The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
