The former Brazilian leader has been detained after authorities found he posed a concrete flight risk while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was sentenced of planning a government overthrow in the ninth month and handed more than 27 years in jail, but he was staying under home detention pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a safety action after fresh information were revealed.

This involved attempting to break his ankle monitor and a invitation to a demonstration that could facilitate a potential flight.
