That Gruesome Animated Movie Conclusion That Stays With Audiences

Out of every mature cartoon movies I’ve ever viewed, nothing has remained with me as much as the terror-laced finale of the viscerally violent and overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, the Spain-based writer-director developed a dark, bleak and often savage world with several minor , forlorn hints of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars seems like it stemmed from a desire to push the medium further, the director clarified that it was rather a try to convey a universal, multicultural message concerning “the common origin of all wars.”

That message is expressed via a group of vividly colored bears , clearly modeled after a famous series of cuddly figures.

Being raised in a community focused on militarism as well as the defense industry, many of the bears are consumed by killing unicorns, because of a religious scripture that claims the bears they previously were kings of the forest, before the horned beings expelled them.

A few did not entirely accepted the propaganda, and prefer to sample substances and fornicate outdoors.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these vivid animals have visible genitals and clear libidos.

For a particular particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the bear named Bluey, the battle against unicorns becomes a route to power — and especially to dominance over his more tender, more compassionate sibling the character Tubby.

This bear acts as a tormentor , an obvious psychopath , and as terror dominates his group and takes his fellow soldiers sequentially, he takes increasingly influence for himself, through ever more violent, damaging approaches.

Simultaneously, the horned creatures are experiencing their own terror, in the form of a spreading, destructive monster in their forest.

“At the beginning, it appears as a humorous movie,” the filmmaker stated. “However it becomes a more intense and melancholic movie. And by the end, it becomes a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars begins resembling one of the more whimsical features from an iconic filmmaker, that uncover a mischievous joy in letting animated figures curse, shoot each other, or have intimate relations.

Then it becomes closer to a bleaker movie from that creator, featuring progressively visual gore and a palpable connection to the actual tragedy of conflict.

Ultimately, it is a full-on Grand Guignol bloodbath.

The terror that turns the film a perfect Halloween viewing begins well before than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore fans of gore, for fans of intense movies who desire to see a movie they haven’t ever seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a story that pulls unflinching brutality.

Watch it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the finale will burrow deep within you and linger.
