Salah Offers Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the fallout from his recent interview.
The Fallout
Salah was left out from a European match following voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
He also noted that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the period after the initial controversy. He feels the outburst were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
