Renowned Star Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
US actor Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, per media reports.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a statement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, like:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
