President Trump Calls Families of Injured Guard Members to White House
President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Event
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The president stated he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president addressed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Government Adjustments
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event led the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of the Airman
The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to speak to the family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” he told the crowd at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
