Over 36,000 civilians have fled Sudan's Kordofan region eastern part of Darfur beginning Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration organization.

The key central region separating the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine area has during recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese military forces and the militia group.

Substantial Displacement Numbers

An calculated 36,825 people evacuated from five districts in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.

The people, mainly traveling by foot, traveled to Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 displaced people.

Increased Forces Deployment

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday noted a heavy surge in both RSF and army presence across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both forces are competing for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a critical supply and command hub that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have assembled at the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently circulated video declaration.

Area Inhabitants Report Security Concerns

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had increased significantly since the group's capture of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, fearing fighting," the individual explained.

Another resident, who asked to remain unnamed for security reasons, also confirmed that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

International Concerns and Appeals

A senior UN official raised the alarm last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The official warned of patterns comparable to patterns in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The church leader on Sunday appealed for an quick cessation of hostilities and the creation of humanitarian corridors in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are producing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday charged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The representative further called on the world nations to classify the group as a terrorist entity.
