Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included continental glory and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side in England. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to management, he confessed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row in every contest post heavy investment, but he rubbished the suggestion of it representing the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, along with the consequences for the team. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
