Israelis have assembled throughout the country to remember two years since the Hamas-led offensive on 7 October 2023, as talks advanced in Egypt over a conclusion to the hostilities in Gaza.

The attack resulted in more than 1,200 people killed and 251 others abducted back to Gaza as prisoners. It was the uniquely most lethal day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel reacted by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its figures are regarded as accurate by the UN and other international bodies.

"Our aggressive enemies have hit us hard, but they have not overcome us," the leader remarked on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the removal of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will not present a risk to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The national leadership rescheduled formal commemorations until 16 October - after the completion of the festive season - but ceremonies still were held across the country on that day.

A commemorative event for the families of Israeli citizens who lost their lives in the Hamas attack was held in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the families themselves, it was aired across Israeli broadcast stations.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was respected around the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

Simultaneously, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams gathered in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for a second day of mediated discussions to review the provisions of the agreement.

A prominent delegate involved in the negotiations revealed that an evening round of mediated discussions commenced at 7 PM local time.

The official explained the day's discussions ended without significant progress, because of differences over the suggested Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas seeks to make certain Israel does not restart fighting after the opening period of the arrangement.

He noted that the talks are "challenging and have not yet achieve any significant progress," but noted that intermediaries are making efforts to reduce the disparities between the conflicting groups.

Critical Issues in Negotiations

  • A lasting ceasefire
  • The exchange of the prisoners still held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for humanitarian aid deliveries
  • Post-war management of the region

Public Feeling

In Tel Aviv's public square previously, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member survived the attack on the outdoor event, where hundreds were murdered and many more were taken hostage by Hamas gunmen - explained: "No location feels like home any longer and until each abducted person come back no one will have peace of mind."

"Once we see all home returned, we can relax anew. Then we can commence recover," she added.

Near the prime minister's official dwelling in the capital, people congregated to show their backing for the families of the abducted. Israel reports forty-eight continue in captivity in Gaza, 20 of whom are thought to be alive.

Protester a participant stated: "We need do whatever arrangement required for the captives to come back home. But we sincerely need guarantees that we will be secure."

Research now consistently show that approximately 70% of Israeli citizens prefer the war to finish in exchange for the freedom of the abducted.

Gaza Conditions

At the site of Nova festival, mourners came together to honor the dead.

From the site, the boom of aerial bombardments and artillery could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where observers said the heavy Israeli bombardment carried on.

In Gaza City, bombardments were reported in the morning of Tuesday in the west side neighborhood, Rimal and locality districts and in the eastern area of the community, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwest.

"Once the night comes, the anxiety comes with it," displaced Gaza City resident a local woman, whose teenage son was lost his life by an Israeli bombing previously, shared.

"Me and my three children are terrified of the air strikes. Throughout the evening we are sleeping together, embracing, particularly my little child who places his face on me throughout the night."

"Continuously we look at the news to see the situation. And I'm afraid that this ceasefire will not be achieved and that the fighting will resume to us."

Health Situation

The medical facility in Gaza City reported it had taken in the bodies of half dozen people by the midday, including three killed in an Israeli bombing in the south part district.

Nasser hospital in the southern urban center of the city reported two more fatalities had been brought there. A person was died by Israeli troops while looking for aid to the south region, health workers said.

The region's health ministry reported 25 of the {territ
