Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing violence and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady confidence and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, visionary style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
