Fresh Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic demises of esteemed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the home. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
When she went into the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held without bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
The source also disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
