Followers Demand Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents showed that he was set to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram profile features recordings of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Many followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said another comment on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while some demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be launched on 21 November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the well-known stage production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two distinct witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of last year in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
