Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
